This design is a modern take on a french provincial style which runs throughout the home.
It is not a large kitchen so we streamlined the design and chose a floating shelf design to keep the feel of openness which is also typical of the provincial style where the kitchen looks lived in with wares on display. The client really liked the open design and the timber framework of the island which made it look like a piece of furniture with lots of character. It creates a real focal point in the space. The clients weren’t afraid to go a bit bolder with the light mustard colour of the cabinets against the neutral backdrop. It adds warmth to the space and compliments the rich timber accents granite bench top and rustic timber flooring.
